Revolucionarna studija pokazuje da 215 milijuna hektara tropskog zemljišta — površina veća od Meksika — može prirodno obnoviti šume bez skupih programa sadnje. Takav prirodni oporavak mogao bi pohraniti oko 23,4 gigatona ugljika u roku od 30 godina, a pet zemalja čini više od polovice tog potencijala. Brazil, Indonezija, Kina, Meksiko i Kolumbija ključni su za ovu regeneraciju. Pristup nudi jeftiniji put prema globalnim klimatskim ciljevima i obnovi biološke raznolikosti.
